Another Place as I've blogged about before is by Anthony Gormley the Angel of the North man and consists of 100 cast-iron, life-size figures spread out along three kilometres of the foreshore, stretching almost one kilometre out to sea. Don't forget you can only see them at Crosby until November 2006 after which they are going to New York. Each visit you experience the work in a different way depending on the state of the tide, the weather conditions and the time of day you visit. At particularly high tides all the figures are submerged.

According to Antony Gormley, Another Place harnesses the ebb and flow of the tide to explore man's relationship with nature. He explained:
"The seaside is a good place to do this. Here time is tested by tide, architecture by the elements and the prevalence of sky seems to question the earth's substance. In this work human life is tested against planetary time. This sculpture exposes to light and time the nakedness of a particular and peculiar body. It is no hero, no ideal, just the industrially reproduced body of a middle-aged man trying to remain standing and trying to breathe, facing a horizon busy with ships moving materials and manufactured things around the planet."

Do you like the dreads on the crosby statue! haha

  • Good To Know - Some Great lyrics

    When you’re down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name,
And you know whereever I am
I’ll come running, oh yeah baby
    To see you again.
    Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
    You’ve got a friend.

    If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
    Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I’ll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey, ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend?
    People can be so cold.
They’ll hurt you and desert you.
Well they’ll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don’t you let them.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Oh babe, don’t you know that,
    Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all you’ve got to do is call.
Lord, I’ll be there, yes I will.
    You’ve got a friend.
    You’ve got a friend.
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend.
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend.
    You’ve got a friend.

Some friends stick by you always... these are some of mine Mark & Avril...they've just bought a place in Mallorca as a second home very nice too

  • The Ultimate Friend

    The price of friendship

If you want to know something about me without asking any questions, study my friends. The people with whom I choose to spend my free time, with whom I eat and laugh and cry--those people are the mirrors of my soul. It's true: you really can tell a lot about a person by the company she keeps...

Now, if you choose friends the way I choose friends, there is no pattern or logic to it. I have friends who are extremely wealthy, and friends who are desperately short of cash. I have friends who do not vote and friends who can finish my sentences if I pause to take a breath. I guess it's a thing about me, it's all about soul. I'm not interested in how they look or what money they have, it's the glow of a kind soul it's the only thing that makes a true friend for me.

    Friendships are made, not born

  • Sparkle on the inside & sparkle on the outside

We should all endeavour to sparkle on the inside and the outside - bling it up! haha
Colour ourselves gorgeous - wear plenty of colour!
We are all gems - so show it
We should laugh so hard it hurts then take pictures to remember
Girls - wear extra shiny lipgloss and flash your shoulders!
We should all get a grip - hold on tight to the important things in our life
We should all strive to live a perfect happy life

Today I've had a great start Commander has made me two rounds of toast with jam..bless and we have just been outlining next week..... we haven't a day spare it's out for lunch Monday to Friday yeeeeha chief trougher

  • FF4 Today

I went to see my friend Don last night and we were reading snippets from a great book it was all about origins of words...and I'm such a sucker for facts..
Does anyone here know where the word POSH comes from?
Posh comes from the first letters of the phrase "port out, starboard home," which designated the most desirable accommodations on a steamship voyage from England to India and back.
The cabins on the port side on the way to India got the morning sun and had the rest of the day to cool off, while starboard ones got the afternoon sun, and were still quite hot at bedtime. On the return trip, the opposite was true. The cooler cabins, therefore, were the more desirable and were reserved for the most important and richest travelers. Their tickets were stamped P.O.S.H.
Well this is one theory anyway!!So you can now tell your friends and swap Fascinating Facts!!
Saved by the bell is another favourite FF4 today
When our ancestors realized that they were burying a great deal of people before their time had actually come, they came up with a solution. They tied a string onto the "dead" person's hand, buried them, and tied the other end of the string to a bell and then tied it to nearby tree branch. If the person revived enough to ring the bell, their survivors would rush out and dig them up. Hence... "saved by the bell"

  • The World Is My Lobster!

Quick rush to Aldi...frozen ready to eat Lobster are only 4.99
That's what I did and I've just defrosed one of the BEASTS...ugh it's got beady eyes and hairs on it's shell and if it didn't taste so flipping marvelous I don't think I would wanna touch it....I am such a girl I am having to pick it up with gloves haha
Anyway should you wish to follow my advice and go get some you might need a bit of help in how to actually eat it...what what!! haha
So for all those who aren't sure....
What better place to discuss lobster anatomy than at the dinner table? The first thing to do when your cooked lobster arrives is turn it over and announce whether it is a male or a female
How can you tell a male from a female?
The swimmerets, the small feathery appendages on the underside of the tail, will provide the answer. The first pair of swimmerets closest to the body are hard and bony on a male, and soft and feathery like the rest of the swimmerets, on a female. Only the female has a small rectangular shield between her second pair of walking legs. This is the sperm receptacle where she stores the sperm after mating until she lays her eggs.

So now your all thinking how the Flippin heck do i eat it well I was haha???
Most people start by breaking off the legs. Holding the lobster by the back, gently pull off the legs with a twisting motion.

Don't throw these away: there are plenty of delicious morsels inside!
Next, take off the claws, which are also called chelipeds.

Tear them off at the first joint, again with a gentle twisting motion, and note that the crusher claw usually is bigger than the tearing claw.
Gently remove the loose part of the claw. Again, check for especially tasty morsels in small parts!

Using a nutcracker, break off the tip of the large section of claw, revealing the meat.
With your forefinger, push the meat from the tip of the claw out the larger open end.
Notice the mouth parts, antennae, antennules, and rostrum or beak, all of which are inedible.
Grasp the tail portion with one hand, and the back with the other hand.
Twist to separate the two sections.
After that, turn to end of the tail which has small flippers, or telsons, at the base.
These provide tasty if miniscule chunks of meat to those who don't mind a little extra work.
Probably, the best part of the lobster (the debate rages between tail lovers and claw lovers) is the tail meat.
Then insert your fingers into the telson end to push the tail meat out intact through the larger opening.
Peel off the top of the tail to reveal the digestive tract, which should be removed before eating the rest of the tail meat.
Intrepid diners who explore further find small chunks of meat inside the carapace, the hard shell or body of the lobster.
They may also encounter the gills, the circulation system, and green "tomalley"(the digestive gland) and in a female lobster, red "coral" or "roe" (the unfertilized eggs). Hard-core lobster lovers eat the latter two.
What's the green stuff? It's the lobster's liver or more accurately, its digestive system. Although many people like to eat the "tomalley" it probably isn't a good idea because this is where pollution in the lobster's own meal choices would become concentrated in the lobster's body.

What's the red stuff? It's the roe, the unfertilized eggs of the female. Lobster eggs were once considered a delicacy, like caviar. The roe is also called "coral" because of its bright red color.

  • Today I Have A Date With Destiny

Today I have a date with destiny. Or so the email said from some American. I am still hanging about wondering what that could be haha lets hope it's something from the lucky lucky man hehe...well it's 23.24 only 25mins left for something significant to happen and it aint happened yet!! Am i safe to go to bed do you think? lol

Well I made it I'm still alive!!
Sunday morning went on the running machine again, was just finished showering and the doorbell rang Commander was at the door with Michael she had found a christmas tree decoration in her shopping!! lol Spent a few minutes showing her the very pink tree.... The rest of the day was dedicated to buying things like frozen lobster in Aldi....very cheap in there... Visiting Avril and Mark and sleeping..big zzs
Carol gave me some decorations for my tree... bless I have lovely friends!

  • I have such a lot to blog about today!

Monday morning and I've just picked up a tuna salad from Anns Panties and ugh it had a hair in it! It's put me off for ever yuk yuk yak yak!! Had several cups of c blank blank f blank e to make up for the fact that it went straight in the bin and I am now lunchless. Other excitement was ickle man left his coat in the car this morning and on such a wet day as well...so I've had an extra visit to the school already! haha Anyway on to the good stuff my weekend well I've had an ace one! Friday night went into town with the girls didn't have a drink cos I was driving ooo but we did have a chuckle, all the gals were legless!! When I arrived home I put my tree up don't ask me why must have been 1am...I didn't dress it but just thought no time like the present! hehe At 7am Commander rang me to make sure I was up bless had to catch a coach at 8.30 to Liverpool shopping! We have a bit of a tradition where Commander makes Cheese and Picallily sandwiches and coffee to trough en route and she hadn't let me down!! This time it was cheese and home made pickle.
The coach dropped us off by the Albert Dock and we planned to have a coffee however there was some sort of Fire Alarm going off and all the staff were standing on the pavements very bizarre so we just kept walking. First shop we came to was BHS and I think that other than Accessorize and Zara that was the sum total of our shopping haha
Well BHS has taken a turn for the much better lovely underwear and christmas decorations hehe well I bought loads of pink fluffy balls and two fluffy white poodles for my tree...In Commanders words they are so hideous they are great! Oh and I bought two brown boot stocking things with feathers round the top, some pink baubles and an incredibly cute drunk looking fairy...pictures to follow of all purchases including 4 yes 4 furry ball lamps 2 pink 2 cream...couldn't resist
Anyway it started to rain so we headed for our lunch destination. We spotted a policeman in the middle of the road directing traffic who looked about 12 so I sent Commander on a recky to ask him the way! He obviously didn't want to give her directions in the middle of a busy street so he took her by the arm and led her to a safe place by me haha that's debatable!! Bless... anyway he told us that the Alma de Cuba was such a lovely building we couldn't miss it
O my what a fabulous place and O my what fabulous food we had and O my what low chairs and O my two bottles of wine later..! Well it just got funny after that...Commander has filled me in with all the bits I don't remember..O my!

Well this is one restaurant you can't forget in a hurry. The converted Catholic church was lit with literally hundreds of church candles and several very large chandeliers made from stag antlers. The alter was still there with a couple of Posh and Becks wedding style chairs in front of it...must be for when they pay a visit haha
We ordered a couple of vino's at the bar and took in the place... the stained glass and dim lighting was very atmospheric.

When it was time for lunch we went upstairs...there were church candles on every step..how gorgeous! We were sat at some very low chairs or it was a very tall table and we spent about 15mins just laughing at the fact that anyone smaller than us would need a cushion...infact we are quite tall 5ft 7 and 5ft 8...It was a while before we realised we were the only people lunching in the restaurant everyone else was downstairs lunching in the bar and we were so busy catching up that when the lady came to get our order we hadn't even looked at the menu...We ordered the first bottle of vino

The food was fantastic with a capital F!! There was some sort of black bean humous that tasted just like chocolate orange offered to start with with fresh bread! I then had scallops followed by salmon followed by chocolate mousse followed by another bottle of vino...Well after this point It all went a bit of a blur I remember paying the £82 bill and paying a £10 tip. I remember getting my fluffy poodles out at the table for a group photo, I remember waiting for a taxi in the church doorway...dressing the xmas tree in the said doorway with my christmas decorations (don't remember that) Inviting an elderly Irish couple in off the street out of the rain telling them they should have a look around as we had just paid a tidy sum and they should go and view the decor!! haha They were a lovely couple they told us all about the history of the church and how they had been in it many times when it was a church but they had never liked to venture in since....I remember at this point getting involved in opening doors for a Polish delivery driver and his 3 drops of whatever and being his official door holder opener haha Commander has since suggested that we write to the Alma de Cuba and buy the tape of video surveillance as it would be worth a small fortune in entertainment value...hmm...apparently at this point I flagged a taxi down as couldn't wait any longer. Commander has also since told me that I told the taxi driver that we were from Cheshire and we were very well connected...laff I mean I just wouldn't say that!! How embarrassing...anyway apparently it wasn't it was just amusing...Commander didn't even realise I was very drunk hic..she said I was just normal..Last stop on the Magical mystery tour was the Albert Dock....apparently I pointed out the Liver Building clock to the taxi driver and told him how they all had lunch round it...see earlier post....hmm....apparently I also told the taxi driver about my new passport day in Liverpool this time last year where I gave the taxi guy too much money and he followed me into the passport office to give me my change...bless...
I know I do waffle but hey last stop was the Blue Bar where we ordered yet another vino...some guy who was passing asked if we wanted a photo taking so we let him..bless and then the group of 20 guys who were with him asked if we would show them our shopping...apparently they were very amused with my furry lights and fluffy poodle tree ornaments...anyway we had to catch the coach and apparently I sang Christmas songs most of the way back with Commanders ickle Nephew...I remember getting home and going straight to bed...waking up at 10pm with a monty hangover...how bizarre a hangover at 10pm at night!! haha I then dressed my tree head to foot in pink....soooo funny and couldn't get back to sleep again or maybe I did at about 7am

    this is the poodle decoration!

This is the furry ball lamp.....so cute it gets warm too...

Do you like my purchases? I'm going through a fluffy furry stage!!

  • Happy Christmas

Tomorrow is the 1st December and soon we will all be saying Happy Christmas!! Have you started writing your Christmas cards yet? Have you done your Christmas shopping? Have you stopped to think for a moment what you mean when you say Happy Christmas? Are they merely words with no real content, which just trip off the tongue? Or is it in the vague hope that one day just for one day everyone might be Just Happy? Maybe next time you should say it and really mean it!

Who am I? If I'm not famous, not a celebrity, not in Hello magazine, what am I worth, who says I'm significant, if I'm taken for granted by many, abused by many and told I don't count. What am I worth?

  • Todays Ponder

My friend is approaching 40 and she said to me do you think Jess you have had the best 37 years of your life or do you think the best 37 are to come? • How much time have you spent with your partner lately?

How much time have you spent with your partner lately? Not sitting on the sofa watching TV or over dinner, but real one-on-one time. It's amazing how much a little "private" time can help improve even the best of relationships. In the spirit of the quote by Torquato Tasso, "Any time not spent on love is wasted," I implore you to give your partner the most precious gifts of all... your time. Just in case ideas seem to be lacking on how to give your time, I've come up with a few suggestions:

Firstly, make it easier to spend a few minutes here and there talking by taking advantage of everyday actions. The perfect opportunity maybe in taking a few minutes before getting out of the car to go somewhere. Lean over and kiss your partner and tell them you love them. Then, ask how their day was or how they're doing. Call your partner up every so often, even if you live together, and just talk for a few minutes like old friends. Before you go to bed is also a great time to spend together. Talk about your goals and dreams and snuggle together.

Every once in awhile, take the day off or call in sick and just hang out together. Or, if you have kids, hire a nanny for the day or enlist a friend or family member to watch them, and go for a walk or have a picnic. Try to keep to activities that promote talking, unlike movies or concerts, etc.

Another fun way to promote one-on-one time is to find a hobby you can both do together.

When was the last time you both went out on a date? If it's been awhile, institute a date night. Ask your love out to a specific place, with a specific time to be ready. If you date quite often, make it an "at home" date. A picnic in the living room or a complete night snuggled in bed might be the perfect thing for you.

Lastly, when you're both bored and have no idea what to do, get up, light a few candles, break out any old board or card games, order a pizza and play. Even if you don't play for very long, it's still a perfect way to provide a little one-on-one time. Remember the words of Henry Van Dyke, "Time is... too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice; but for those who love, time is eternity." haha ignore me I'm such a dreamer

  • Penny Lancaster

Everywhere I go peeps tell me I look like Penny Lancaster...

It's like play a different record! haha what do you reckon?? I mean I wish!!

  • The Braz

On Friday night I ended up in my favourite haunt The Braz in Alderley Edge. For those of you who don't know it... it's a night club. Anyway it was a great night they have just opened up the club again after a makeover. It was very bizarre as the place has completely changed it was all familiar yet changed around and new decor. So I felt utterly lost, wierd!!

The rest of the weekend was spent holding bits of wood on walls at Don's and making soup jess folds arms in best old lady pose lol

  • Well today the weather is Wild & Exciting

Well today the weather is Wild & Exciting and I am in the mood for that

  • Howes Pie's Middlewich

The morning has started well!! My colleague Johnnie Buck bought me a Howes meat and potato pie from Middlewich..bless...they have been making the pies in the same place with the same receipe since the 1800's. They have passed the receipe down through the family and wow was it fantastic!! It was still warm out of the oven and I can honestly say they are the best meat pies in the country!! Without a doubt!
Well today is Friday and there is no sign of snow....boo...hiss boo... me and Commander are going to the pub for our munchies today...chief trougher!!

Anyway Middlewich is 5 minutes away from Sandbach and is full of history.... Middlewich is one of Britain's chief salt-producing towns and has been so since Roman times. It is the home of British Salt!! Did you know Romans were paid in salt, and the district therefore held a valuable commodity. As the Roman soldiers were partly paid in salt. It is said to be from this that we get the word soldier - 'sal dare', meaning to give salt. From the same source we get the word salary, 'salarium'. FF4 today!!

Middlewich lay on a major Roman road from the Mersey at Warrington to Derby. They named the town "Salinae" (Latin = salt works). At Middlewich a fort was built on a defensive site above the River Dane and this became a staging post on the main military road to the North.... At Middlewich the Romans established their saltworks on land by the River Croco between the military fort and the site of the existing Celtic salt making settlement.

Tudor Middlewich was also known for for its cheese production. But salt has always been its major economy. By the late 18th century Middlewich had seen the arrival of the canals, which became vital in transporting salt and cheese from Middlewich and coal in from Staffordshire via the Trent & Mersey Canal. Many of Middlewich's houses were built by the waterways companies still survive alongside the towpaths, with adjacent stables for the horses which pulled the narrowboats. Yes we have wonderful views of the canal!! Commercial use of the canals declined after the Second World War with improved road and rail transport systems being preferred. However, in recent times, the canals have seen a renaissance in their fortunes as pleasure cruising on a narrowboat with the family has caught on as a popular holiday activity, and several boat hire companies have moved into the town to bring the canal system alive again. It's all them locks!! haha

  • What happened on Your Birthday?

Thanks to my friend Juzzy for this idea...Have you ever looked up on google what happened on your Birthday as in Significant events.... Hey I just did...

    45BC: New Year's Day

New Year's Day is celebrated on January 1 for the first time in 45 B.C., when Roman dictator Julius Caesar establishes the Julian calendar. On the advice of the astronomer Sosigenes, Caesar added 67 days to the year 46 B.C. in order to repair the damage done to the imperfect Roman calendar by the passage of time. Celebration of New Year's Day in January fell out of practice during the Middle Ages, but after the adoption of the Gregorian--or modern--calendar in 1582, New Year's was again observed on the first day of January. Since then, people around the world have gathered en masse in cities and towns to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. • Thanksgiving

Well tomorrow is Thanksgiving....I deal with lots of Amercians and I've never really known what Thanksgiving was all about..soooo today I found out...so for those of you who didn't know either here you go!!
    Celebrating a Harvest of Tradition
The fourth Thursday in November, Thanksgiving Day, ushers in the "official" start of the Christmas season in the American & Candian world. It's a bit of a Harvest Festival haha which is one of the oldest known festivals.... In the UK it is traditionally held on or near the Sunday of the Harvest Moon. This moon is the full moon around the time of the Autumn Equinox in September. Unlike the USA and Canada, the UK does not have a national holiday for Harvest Festival. waaahhhh we need more holidays haha
The USA & Canada have parades, huge family meals, wall-to-wall football (which does make one question whether the turkey or the football is the featured course of the day), and the appearance of Santa (Father Christmas to us) throughout shopping "malls", the festival has become a commercial event in which the origins and meaning of the day are almost totally obscured. The modern day Thanksgiving is a far different occasion than the original.

    Thanksgiving's Beginnings
It is widely assumed that the first Thanksgiving occurred in 1621 and was celebrated by the Pilgrims, English settlers, and local Native Americans. However the Native American people had celebrated the harvest, in one form or another, for several thousands of years prior to European colonization. The first documented "thanksgiving" observance actually occurred in 1578. An English adventurer, Martin Frobisher, held a formal ceremony in what is now known as New Foundland to give thanks for having survived the long ocean journey from Plymouth on the Mayflower.

    Thanksgiving Today
Thanksgiving, as the Americans know it today, has come a long way from the Pilgrim's harvest festival in 1621. It is an event that seems, as each year goes by, to reinvent itself and to expand its meaning to larger vistas.Yup that's the American's!! haha Maybe this is the real significance of the occasion; for as we continue to change and grow as a people, there are an increasing number of things for which we can be thankful.

Thanksgiving is a time for tradition and sharing. Even if they live far away, family members gather for a reunion at the house of an older relative. Everyone will bring something they've cooked to add to the table. If they can't cook then they'll bring wine...cheers! But part of the trick of being the host is to ensure that the contributions are evenly spread.haha nice one! Traditionally, people use turkey oh and vegetables that would have been stored in cellars to last throughout the winter: squash, sweet potatoes, onions, brussel sprouts, apples, pumpkins, dried apricots, and corn. Visually that's wonderful, too, because they reflect the colours of the fall or autumn as we know it haha: orange, browns, tans, and gold. The kids often kick a pumpkin round on a piece of ground outside. They all link hands and say grace before they eat...all give thanks together for the good things that they have. The main meal is followed by goodies including pumpkin pie, pecan pie, sweet potatoes and an apple and butternut squash bake...washed down with mulled cider and beer...hic In this spirit of sharing, civic groups and charitable organizations offer a traditional meal to those in need, particularly the homeless. On most tables throughout the United States, foods eaten at the first thanksgiving have become traditional.

Turkey, corn (or maize), pumpkins and cranberry sauce are symbols which represent the first Thanksgiving. Now all of these symbols are drawn on holiday decorations and greeting cards. The use of corn meant the survival of the colonies. "Indian corn" as a table or door decoration represents the harvest and the fall season.

Sweet-sour cranberry sauce, or cranberry jelly, was on the first Thanksgiving table and is still served today. I think I might cook a token thanksgiving meal tonight we'll a bit of turkey and a few sprouts and spuds haha just to feel warm glowy feelings haha

  • As I grow

I have a robin outside my window...a gorgeous splash of colour on a foggy grey day....O the red red robin came bob bob bobbing along... Growth means different things to different people...growing a business or maybe growing plants haha

We grow when we live consciously rather than unconsciously (so often we are on automatic pilot). Yup I've stopped driving to work with ickle man still in the car haha

We grow through our willingness to make mistakes. Yup I make many haha

We grow when we take a risk face and move through our fear and inner resistance to bring more into our lives. Yes I did buy rather a lot of marble balls to add to the other lot of marble balls but hey haha

We grow when we align ourselves with our Higher self (spirit) and begin to live our life in harmony with the Universe rather than seeking to struggle against our evolution. Yup I am at peace and very happy with my lot

We grow when we awaken a new soul quality such as a sense of adventure or a small wonder. Yes the robin sure is gorgeous and it sure perches well BO SELECTA!!

We grow by doing something differently and unexpected and through embracing our inner vulnerability. Yup every day I like to try something different

We grow through relationships and being congruent in our dealings with others. Yes I love all my friends and family..hugs!

Ultimately we grow through being loving and always acting from love.

    Growth is opportunity to discover the depth of your character, the depth of your love, your commitment, your patience, your abilities;
the opportunity to explore your spirit more deeply than you imagined possible, to drive you further than you would ever go on your own, working harder, seeking answers to your many questions with no answers

  • Joke Time

    Blind (as a bat)
A vampire bat came flapping in from the night, face all covered in fresh blood and perched himself on the ceiling of the cave to get some sleep. NB.BO SELECTA bats perch also!! haha
Pretty soon all the other bats could smell the blood and began hassling him about where he got it.
Initially he told them all to piss off and let him get some sleep, but they persisted until he finally gave in.
"OK, OK, follow me", he said and he flew out of the cave with hundreds of bats behind him.
Down through a valley they went, across a river and into a huge forest until finally he slowed down and all the other bats excitedly milled around him, tongues hanging out for blood.
"Do you see that large oak tree over there ?" he asked, pointing with his wing.
"Yes, yes, YES....!!" the bats all screamed in a frenzy.
"Good," said the first bat, "Because I bloody didn't...!!"

Which reminds me haven't seen the bats that fly round my house at night recently. Do they hibernate?

Q : What do you call a man with no shins ?
    A : Tony !

    Sole mate
I'm feeling a bit lonely at the moment and so I decided life would be more fun if I had a pet.
So, I went to the pet shop and told the owner that I wanted to buy an unusual pet.
After some discussion, I finally bought a Centipede which came in a little white box to use for his house.
I took the box back home, found a good location for it to live and then decided I would start off by taking my new pet to the pub to have a drink.
So, I asked the centipede in the box, "Would you like to go down the Queen's Head with me and have a beer ?"
However, there was no answer, so I waited a few minutes and then asked him again.
    Again no reply....
Thinking that maybe he had dozed off, I shouted, "Fancy a beer ?"
No reply again from my new friend and pet, so I waited a few minutes more.
I decided to ask him one more time; this time putting my face up against the centipede's house and bellowing, "Hey, in there ! Would you like to go to Pub and have a drink with me ?"
A little voice came out of the box, "I heard you the first time ! I'm still putting my bloody shoes on !"

  • This is a FF4 today from Kev Seed - Radio City! Yay have to plug him!!

Thanks to my buddie at Radio City Kev Seed for this fascinating fact!

The Liver Building in Liverpool was the first multi-storey office block in the country to be made out of reinforced concrete. The Liver Building also has the largest clock faces in the UK. They are 25 feet (7.62m) across. That’s two and a half feet (.76m) wider than Big Ben on the Houses of Parliament in London. On the evening of the erection of the clock face all the local dignitries ate lunch round the clock face............how cool!!! I wanna sit at 10 to 2 lol only joking!!

  • Roman Chester

My ickle man has gone on a school trip today to Chester.

The most famous destination in Cheshire is Roman Chester. With 2,000 years of history, this is one of Europe’s top heritage cities – and it is easy to see why!
Chester boasts the largest stone amphitheatre in Britain. It could hold over 6000 spectators. Its main purpose was for training the legionaries in fighting techniques. Grrrrrr!! haha

Chester also has a complete circuit of walls, sections of which date back to Roman times, as well as a Norman Cathedral. The famous Rows, unique two-tiered galleries built in the traditional black and white ‘magpie’ style, contain a wide range of shops selling goods from antiques to trendy stuff.

Other attractions include the beautiful River Dee plus the recently restored Grosvenor and Cheshire Military Museums. I soooooooooo love history it blows me away!!

Hmm just been telling the girls how I couldn't find my mobile phone so I rang it from my house phone. Hurrah and Huzzah i found it!! Then rushed out.... later on saw I had a missed call so I phoned it back and left a message...hmm when I arrived home had a message on my answer phone so listened to it and yes it was me...leaving myself a message...crazy!! haha...dream on...dolly dimple!

  • My Weekend

Well Friday I went to the pub with Commander Amanda, we both had jacket potatoes and beans...hmm very healthy but I wasn't convinced that the two go well together! Friday night I went to Hoylake to see my friend. Ended up in the Keebab shop for a Cheese burger and chips. Just me and the two guys serving! Amazing.. everyone just has to talk to me, they wanted to know all about me, what I did as a job, where I lived, how many children I had, did I like Hoylake..needless to say they hadn't heard of Sandbach..haha we are only famous for the worst motorway cafe in Europe and being a truck town!! yaya....so I don't suppose they would have...Anyway after visiting my friend I gained 2 animal skin rugs and some grey cushions! lol Saturday well I went to get those dreaded scales I've been blogging about...fortunately they don't shout out my weight...haha yes you can buy those now scarey!! Anyway whilst I was in Argos I also ordered a running machine. I used to be really into running however it is difficult to go with ickle man soo I thought well I may as well get one then I can run at home!!
No excuses now eh!!haha Gotta beat the clock gotta beat the clock...Saturday night I was glued to the footie...how wonderful...how amazing....Owen, Rooney... we had something to be happy about!! Yay I am now searching for two tickets to the World cup final...but guess how much? 14,000 Euros waaaahhh

  • Anyone Like Seal? Kissed By A Rose Lyrics

There used to be a greying tower alone on the sea.
You became the light on the dark side of me.
Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill.

    But did you know,
    That when it snows,
    My eyes become large and,
The light that you shine can be seen.

    Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey.
    Ooh,
The more I get of you
    Stranger it feels, yeah.
And now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the grey.

There is so much a man can tell you,
    So much he can say.

    You remain,
My power, my pleasure, my pain.
Baby, to me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?

    But did you know,
    That when it snows,
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.

    Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey.
Ooh, the more I get of you
    stranger it feels, yeah.

Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the grey,

I've been kissed by a rose on the grey,
I've been kissed by a rose
...And if I should fall, at all
I've been kissed by a rose

There is so much a man can tell you,
    So much he can say.

    You remain
My power, my pleasure, my pain.

To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby.

    But did you know,
    That when it snows,
    My eyes become large and,
the light that you shine can be seen.

    Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey.
Ooh, the more I get of you
    Stranger it feels, yeah

Now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the grey.

Yes I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey.
Ooh, the more I get of you
    stranger it feels, yeah.

Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the grey,

  • Who Touched Me

For He touched me, He touched me
What wonderful joy that floods my soul
Something happened and now I know
He touched me and made me whole

Yes touch, that all important wonderful sense, yet so often lacking in our lives. Just think of all the lovely things that we can touch. A new born baby with skin like silk, an aged hand can feel fab when it's someone we love. A pet is soft and fluffy and brings love to young and old. Even fish yes fish can be nice to touch...I personally draw the line at spiders, ants and snakes....ugh shudders...but oooo mongolian sheepskin..beautiful
To touch something is to break down barriers, barriers that prevent us opening our hearts and souls to each other. Barriers that keep us from feeling that one thing...To sit at someone's bedside whom is dying is a great privilege, to touch, stroke someones face as they leave this world and take their last breath is a healing and spiritual experience. To touch and ease them through the pain will surely help them feel a portion of heavenly love that is to come.
So lets not forget peeps the power of touch, grasp that hand, give that hug, tell that special friend how it is...I believe in modern day miracles! So don't forget touch someone's life today - however you may do it!!

  • A rushing Back

    A Rushing Back

You came rushing back to me
    in my dreams last night.
    It’s been a while since I’ve
    felt your touch-
    heard your voice--
    saw your smile

You came rushing back to me
    in my dreams last night
    I thought it was real
    I thought it was you
    holding onto me so tight

You came rushing back to me
    in my dreams last night
    Please don’t wake me
    I’m finally alive again
    I need you-- don’t go
    you feel so real
    you feel so right
oh baby it’s got to be true
    cause in my dreams
    I’m rushing back to you

    Please don’t wake me…

In my dreams I am alive again.
    I feel your touch
    I hear your voice
    I taste your smile
    It’s seems so right
    It feels so real
    It’s got to be true….
    because…. in my dreams
I am rushing back to you.

  • Best Friend

I had to let my best friend go,
even though I never thought so.

    A lasting friendship I thought we'd made,
Now all our memories just start to fade.

I never took for granted a friendship that was given to me,
Now I look back and regret what I now can see.

I always trusted the friendship we had,
Now I must go on alone and sad.

How much I cared he'll never know,
It's not my fault for having to let go.

There's nothing else to say or do,
    He's given up...and I must too.

Sometimes in life you meet people that change your life forever. It's like a bond you can't explain. You will always want the best for them

  • I miss you

    By Diana

    you make me warm,
    You make me sigh,
    When I see you,
    In my mind,
    Your beautiful hair,
    Your Beautiful Eyes,
    Make me feel,
    Like i'll never Die,
    When I am sad,
    and cant make it through,
    I just close my eyes,
    and dream of you,
    For at that time,
    While you're on my mind,
    all my problems,
    Are left behind.
    If I had a choice,
    I wouldn’t change a thing,
    Because you're perfect,
    Just like a dream,
    Id cry for you,
    And even die,
    To make your life,
    Last a longtime,
    You were sent from heaven,
    I know its true,
    Because no one else,
    Is as perfect as you.

  • Remembrance - The Two Minutes Silence

    Don't forget 2day 11am
'The two minutes' silence to commemorate the first anniversary of the ceasefire of 11 o'clock on 11 November 1918

In Britain we remember those no longer serving, including those who have died for their country; for we in this nation have a deep and abiding respect for our past
It is on Remembrance Sunday, on the Sunday nearest 11th November that the Nation led by the Monarch, honours its war dead at the Cenotaph. The Laying of wreaths.... at 10:59 hours, Her Majesty The Queen exits the Old Home Office and takes her place, accompanied by senior members of the Royal Family and Equerries bearing the wreaths to be laid. On the first stroke of Big Ben at 1100 hours, a round is fired by a field gun on Horse Guards Parade Ground. This signals the start of the two-minute silence. After two minutes, another round is fired to signal its end. Immediately after this round, buglers of the Royal Marines sound Last Post.

Then there's the tomb of the unknown warrior

    The inscription reads

"BENEATH THIS STONE RESTS THE BODY
    OF A BRITISH WARRIOR
    UNKNOWN BY NAME OR RANK
BROUGHT FROM FRANCE TO LIE AMONG
THE MOST ILLUSTRIOUS OF THE LAND
AND BURIED HERE ON ARMISTICE DAY
11 NOV: 1920, IN THE PRESENCE OF
    HIS MAJESTY KING GEORGE V
    HIS MINISTERS OF STATE
    THE CHIEFS OF HIS FORCES
AND A VAST CONCOURSE OF THE NATION
    THUS ARE COMMEMORATED THE MANY
    MULTITUDES WHO DURING THE GREAT
WAR OF 1914 - 1918 GAVE THE MOST THAT
    MAN CAN GIVE LIFE ITSELF
    FOR GOD
    FOR KING AND COUNTRY
FOR LOVED ONES HOME AND EMPIRE
FOR THE SACRED CAUSE OF JUSTICE AND
    THE FREEDOM OF THE WORLD
THEY BURIED HIM AMONG THE KINGS BECAUSE HE
HAD DONE GOOD TOWARD GOD AND TOWARD
    HIS HOUSE "
"At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them."

  • There She Goes

I read this and it made me cry

There she goes, a funny girl
Trying to survive in this lonely world
Living each day, in memories of the past
Trying to remember what they said would last
She watches the news, and ends up in tears
She’s never known this kind of fear
Each day she waits patiently by the phone
For the call to say when he’s coming home
But she knows deep down in her shaking heart
They still have months of being apart
Winter is coming, as she faces the cold
Without his warm body there to hold
She passes the couples that walk down the street
Searching for strength to calm her heart's beat
It gets harder each day, yet still she goes on
Living up to her word, waiting while he’s gone
Her prayers are endless, recited to the sky
That God will help her man make it another night
She awakes in the morning, and goes through the day
Smiling at strangers, like it’s all okay
But she'll end up dying inside tonight
Knowing deep down that nothing is right
She'll close her eyes and cry herself to sleep
Wrapped in the hope he might one day weep

  • Now I look like Dom Joly

Last night I whizzzzzed to Crewe to buy some bathroom scales, now this is most unusual as I don't do scales!! However since living on my own and without a fella to tell me I'm getting chubby...I feel it is necessary to keep an eye on my weight...I don't wanna become a couch potato. haha Anyway I passed the O2 shop and went in to buy a Nokia 6680 sim free and ended up buying an XDA Exec, now yes it seems to do everything apart from cook my breakfast in the mornings...however why did I let the shop assistant talk me into buying something sooooo well erm large!
To be fair I do love technology and it is the bees knees but I guess I will be quite reluctant to get it out in public haha beam me up scottie ;o)

Anyway as they locked the door behind me.... as I left the shop I raced home to meet my eldest son who wanted to borrow some money....hoorah and huzzah.lol. I'm seriously considering setting him up in his own business if he could just come up with an idea...to get him away from his dull and boring bank job..at the same time Mr Satellite man was on my doorstep dropping off some new remote controls for the sky plus and then insisted on tuning them in..bless. Anyway it made my house a bit like clapham junction. I picked up my post and yes the knobs of my new cooker have arrived! But boo hiss boo nice try no cigar they were the wrong colour try again guys!! Ten minutes later my business partner was on the doorstep with a MacDonalds for ickle man and a huge box of stock..Anyway no sooner had the box landed and I had to rush out again.. I'd promised my friend Kaz I'd drop her at the SPA..I think it was about 9pm before I settled down to try and work my new gadget at which ickle man of 7 had a major strop on... cos it wasn't fair he wanted one..double bless...I managed to pacify him with the fact that there is a wicked game on there which involves bursting bubbles a bit like bubble wrap with the pda pen that comes with it...and you thought your life was Bizarre?!?

"You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star"

Wow what a gr8 comment, I can identify with that hehe take this week for instance...On Thursday last week I ordered a goat for my friend from farm africa
    www.farmafrica.org.uk
This is where you can buy a a Chicken, Goat or Sheep for a present and Offer an African Family the Chance of a Better Life! This helps a poor African farmer to transform the way they live....we all have tooo much of everything!
Anyway it didn't turn up in time and on dashing over to my friends house with another gift my car radio just got stuck on...cd was jammed in also very bizarre! Even when I took my key out of the ignition yes it was still stuck on!! I think my friend jinxed it haha as it happened just as the phone rang!! As I arrived back in Sandbach I whizzed to the dry cleaners and when I returned spent half an hour trying to spark a bit of life into my key fob battery which had died a death!! I think the peeps in the carpark thought I was a bit nuts as I was banging it on the wall, spiking it with my shoe, rubbing it between my hands!! Relief struck when I managed it! There was nothing for it I had to stop at the mechanics en route as if the radio was going to be stuck on all night I'd have a flat battery in the morning! Also the key fob needs desperately replacing to save my embarassment. Anyway that was Monday and it's now Thursday and I am driving around in a car that looks like someone has pinched my sound system....still no key and the alarm keeps going off on my drive.
    Never a dull moment ;o)

  • England v Argentina Match

When the two teams meet on Saturday it will be the latest in a series of encounters that have been incident prone from the off:

    • 1977 Trevor Cherry loses two of his front teeth

  • Alma de Cuba - Liverpool

On the 3rd of December I'm going with Commander Amanda to Liverpool on a coach....the beauty of going on a coach is you can have a nice meal with a couple of glasses of vino. It's more of a tradition than a shopping expedition..we've been to a different city every year. Anyway my lovely friend Molly has suggested we goto Alma de Cuba she says it's utterly fab. It's an amazing old Greek church which has been turned into an fantastic bar/restaurant. It's about 5 minutes off the main shopping area in Seel Street. So today we have booked and now have something to look forward to!

  • Total Eclipse of the heart

Does anyone remember Bonnie Tyler big hair big song and these lyrics...

Turnaround, every now and then I get a
little bit lonely and you're never coming around
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit terrified and then I see the look in your eyes
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
    then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
    then I fall apart
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit restless and I dream of something wild
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit helpless and I'm lying like a child in your arms
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit angry and I know I've got to get out and cry
Turnaround, Every now and then I get a
little bit terrified but then I see the look in your eyes
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
    then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
    then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you'll only hold me tight
    We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
    I really need you tonight
    Forever's gonna start tonight
    Forever's gonna start tonight

Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
    There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
    Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart

    Turnaround bright eyes
    Turnaround bright eyes
Turnaround, every now and then I know
you'll never be the boy you always you wanted to be
Turnaround, every now and then I know
you'll always be the only boy who wanted me the way that I am
Turnaround, every now and then I know
there's no one in the universe as magical and wonderous as you
Turnaround, every now and then I know
there's nothing any better and there's nothing I just wouldn't do
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
    then I fall apart
Turnaround bright eyes, Every now and
    then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you'll only hold me tight
    We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
Cause we'll never be wrong together
We can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time

  • Remember Remember the 5th of November!

I suddenly realised many of our friends around the world don't celebrate bonfire night and I guess it's kind of strange to think they miss out on such a lot of fun ;o)

Guy Fawkes Day is still celebrated in Britain every year with bonfires, fireworks and the burning of the ‘guy’ usually a grotesque effigy, planted on the top of the fire.

Guy Fawkes (1570 -1606) conspired in the Gunpowder Plot to blow up King James the First and members of both Houses of Parliament. He was arrested in the cellar below the House on November 4, 1605 tortured and executed.
We've been to an organised bonfire in Sandbach! The fireworks were amazing! Also bumped into my friends Nicky and Stuart who had a bag of lagers which seemed like a cool idea so we opened a tinny each and sat back and enjoyed the display while ickle man and Nicky's ickle daughter played. They both wanted flashing light things and rides on the fair, candy floss and sparklers so we managed all of that and a warming by the bonfire! Anway we ended up in the pub with about 20 friends and loads of kids...crisps and treacle toffee all round!! Excellent fun and I think ickle man enjoyed it so nice warm feelings all round ;o)

Bonfire night is a time for joy
Dress up now you girl and boy
Bring your purse bring your smile
Line up now in single file

    Firelight pushing darkness back
    Lining in a dance attack
Feet of many hands held high
    Lifting torches in the sky

    Many hats many shades
    Walking steady in the haze
Sounds of laughing and of fair
    Sandbach has now been reborn

    Burgers filled with tender meat
    Colourful people in the street
    Drinking laughing singing high
    Watching procession drifting by

Down to the bonfire blazing bright
Push back the chill of winter's night
A faint sound echo's as if to start
A beat of music, a beat with heart

The sky is filled with fires passion
The music is power with a fashion
Fireworks of colour light up the sky
Sparks fly down as if to sigh

Heads are looking up into the air
Eyes wide open smiles they share
As the music stops the cheering starts
They want more it's in their hearts

Goodbye my friends for another year
150 years of laughter and of cheers
Thank you for bringing me a night full of love
And a night full of passion coming from above

The feeling of comfort watching this sight
Looking forward to it on a winters night
Sandbach bonfire celebrations will never rest
It will be always in my heart and always the best.

  • Early Tea

Last night went for early tea to Curshaws bar in my home town Sandbach Troughed on Jalepeno peppers, Camenbert wedges and cranberry sauce yum yum.;o) Sandbach ....is a picturesque Medieval market town noted in the Doomsday Book and surrounded by fascinating history. Ever since Queen Elizabeth I granted Sir John Radcliffe the right to hold Fairs and Markets in 1579, Sandbach has become known for it(markets that is). Of particular historical interest are the Ancient Saxon Crosses in the market square immediately opposite Curshaws.

The Sandbach Crosses were completed in the 9th Century A.D. to commemorate the advent of Christianity in the Kingdom of Mercia about 653 A.D. during the reign of the Saxon King Penda (626-655 AD). The two sandstone obelisks bearing engravings which tell the story of the life of Christ and Penda's son, Peada, return to Mercia, were smashed by Puritan iconoclasts in the 17th century and restored in 1816 by Sir John Egerton.

Later on I met up with my friends Nicky & Yvonne and we hit the ancient pubs...on the way home we had curry and chips..where's the slim fast when I need to resist them haha

"Ye Olde Black Beare Inn" formerly owned by Lord Crewe, is a timbered black and white building and the only building still to boast a thatched roof. Note the date of its construction over the door - 1634 AD. It is conjectured that Dick Turpin stayed here on more than one occasion, and it was certainly here that bear-baiting took place. It is located at the entrance to the market square. Can you believe bear baiting?? ugh

This morning got up mega early to clean the house and hang a few pictures. As had viewers at 11am...had a bit of a funny moment with the two pumkins on my window sill as in they both disintergrated as I was carrying them to the bin...I had about 2mins grace before the viewers turned up it was everywhere haha... Walked to town to pick up my car thouroughly enjoyed the walk in the rain with ickle man we talked about all kinds of things! Hit the shops, bought a new coat..keep me warm later haha any excuse..now need c blank blank f blank e to revive me as off to the bonfire shortly yippee
    Edmund Finney
    The Spirit of Sandbach
    (a poem for the Millennium)
There’s an old town in Cheshire called Sandbach
That is well known for all sorts of things,
Such as lorries, brass bands and silk stockings,
And rolls of drawn wire from Prings.

The stockings were made at Heath’s Silk Mill,
And Conlowe’s too, had a mill,
It was just behind ‘Wakefield’s the Butchers’
On the street which leads down to the Hill.

There was Palmer Mann’s Salt Works at Elworth,
Where old ‘Sifta Sam’ made his name:
Nearby were both ‘Glacia’ and ‘Shaka’
    Which added to Sandbach’s fame.

The famous brass band known as ‘Fodens’,
Won contests at th’palace you know:
Not at Buck House, but Crystal in London
And brought back the trophies to show.

There are black and white buildings to look at
Like ‘The Old Hall’ and ‘Ye Olde Black Bear’.
The old Parish church of St. Mary’s
Can be seen from the town’s cobbled square.

The town holds a market each Thursday,
Over four hundred years I am told.
    People visit from neighbouring districts,
It’s where all sorts of items are sold.

The town is well known for its ‘Crosses’,
    They are Saxon and so very rare;
    Knocked about by Oliver Cromwell-
They can be seen on the town’s Market Square.

The town has a crier called Dennis:
He summons the crowds with ‘Oyez’.
In his costume he stands so resplendent
As he reads out the news of the day.

All the salt works that flourished are gone now:
The silk mills that prospered, closed down:
    Fodens are still making lorries
Which can only be good for the town.

Through the years the town has seen changes,
Some old ‘Famous Names’ now are gone,
But in spite of its changes in fortune,
The Spirit of Sandbach lives on!

  • Special Friend

    A friend is someone who:
    Accepts you as you are,
    Believes in you,
    Calls just to say "Hi",
    Doesn't give up on you,
    Envisions the world of you,
    Forgives your mistakes,
    Gives unconditionally,
    Helps you,
    Invites you over,
Just wants to be with you,
    Keeps you close at heart,
    Loves you for you,
Makes a difference in your life,
    Never judges,
    Offers support,
    Picks you up,
    Quiets your fears,
    Raises your spirit,
    Says nice things about you,
Tells you the truth when you need to hear it,
    Understands you,
    Values you,
    Walks beside you,
    X-plains things you don't understand,
Yells at you when you don't listen,
    and
    Zaps you back to reality.

  • Twin Flame

Snow White and Prince Charming. Romeo and Juliet.
Beauty and the Beast. Harry and Sally.
These are all names that come to mind when one thinks of the term soul mate.
This ancient belief can be found in cultures the world over.
But what does the term soul mate actually mean?
In the dictionary, "soul mate" means one of two persons compatible with each other in disposition, point of view or sensitivity; someone for whom you have a deep affinity.
This explains the basic qualities, but we all know the soul mate theory goes much deeper than that.
According to Celtic wisdom, our souls begin their journey together as one being that becomes broken apart. Two souls emerge and move on into their life journeys.
Perhaps we find our twin soul in this life. Maybe we find it in another life. Throughout time, we seek to rejoin our anam cara, the Celtic word for "soul mate," a soul mate who was created as our perfect match.
In order for our soul mate to appear we must be ready for them. You will not meet your soul mate if you are still coming from a place of fear or jealousy in relationships.
You couldn't run before you could walk, and you won't meet your soul mate before you are ready to learn what she/he has to teach you. In order to find our soul mate, we
must be emotionally secure and know what we want from life...Your thoughts? Experiences?

  • I've Learned

    I've learned ...

I've learned ... that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I've learned ... that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I've learned ... that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I've learned ... that you can keep going long after you can't.

I've learned ... that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I've learned ... that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I've learned ... that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

I've learned ... that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I've learned ... that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I've learned ... that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I've learned ... that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

I've learned ... that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I've learned ... that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

I've learned ... that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I've learned ... that your family won't always be there for you. It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families aren't biological.

I've learned ... that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I've learned ... that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I've learned ... that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for
    your grief.

I've learned ... that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I've learned ... that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I've learned ... that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I've learned ... that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.

I've learned ... that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I've learned ... that the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

  • Wowee Crosby Beach!! Check out this art!

Wow what a fabulous day we've had! Been to the beach with my Mum, Dad & ickle man. We firstly went to Formby and had a wonderful walk in the sand dunes and the beach. The weather was perfect and in the woods there is a concentration of Red Squirrels. Then we went to a gorgeous Italian Restaurant for lunch (The Italian Kitchen Formby) where they completely made a fuss of us and the food was yummy. The highlight of the day though was Crosby Beach... 100 cast-iron figures, yes 100!!...moulded from the artist Anthony Gormley's own body in the style that has become synonymous with his work....Angel of the North!

The ghostly life-size figures are dotted along three kilometres of the Crosby shore, sparse in some areas and getting more congregated as they reach the sea front, so onlookers can catch the detail of those near and the shadow of sculptures in the distance out to sea in one eyeful. All the figures are facing out to sea and at different tides are either covered in sea water or exposed. It really is quite a magical sight!
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! TO ALL YOU ART LOVERS OUT THERE GET TO CROSBY BEACH!

  • Funeral Silent Tear

Today I have been to my very good friend Barbie's Mum's funeral

DOES HEAVEN HAVE A PHONE NUMBER?

Mummy went to Heaven, but I need her here today,
My tummy hurts and I fell down; I need her right away,
Operator, can you tell me how to find her in this book?

Is heaven in the yellow part? I don't know where to look.
I think my daddy needs her too; at night I hear him cry.
I hear him call her name sometimes, but I really don't know why.

Maybe if I call her, she will hurry home to me.
Is Heaven very far away, is it across the sea?
She's been gone a long, long time; she needs to come home now!
I really need to reach her, but I simply don't know how.

Help me find the number please, is it listed under "Heaven"?
I can't read these big, big words; I am only seven.
I'm sorry, operator, I didn't mean to make you cry,
Is your tummy hurting too, or is there something in your eye?

    Silent Tear

Yesterday I cried a silent tear for fear of losing you
Today I cried a silent tear because you left my heart behind
Tomorrow I'll cry a silent tear because I'll be getting over you

  • Synchronicity, Coincidence or A Nation Of Mind Readers?

Have you ever thought of someone, and just at that moment they call on the telephone! Or thought of someone and they send you a text?

Or have you opened a book on a random page only to find a word that means something to you?

Or have you switched Radio or TV channels at the right moment to find a programme about something you were interested in?

Or do you keep bumping into or seeing certain friends while you drive or walk about.

Well I have them every single day of my life! I call them Godwinks!
Of course you have also indeed experienced coincidences! On the surface some may pass this off as pure chance but I am convinced it's more like a Mind Reading phenomenon. I think the more aware of these occurances we are the more we realise that it's to do with thoughts and the mind or maybe something else. I challenge you to be more aware of these occurences and you will be pleasantly suprised, as when you follow the trail of coincidences you are pleasently rewarded with magical, meaningful even miraculous occurences. In fact, you may have suspected all along that there is more to coincidence than meets the eye. These seemingly random events are actually signposts that can help you successfully navigate your career and interests. Spontaneous realizations of the underlying interconnectedness of all things within the Universe
Let me know your thoughts on this phenomenon

  • Monkey Business

Today I went with my Mum and ickle man to the Monkey Forest at Trentham 60 acres of woods where 140 Barbary Macaques live in total freedom! Wow what a great setup and a unique opportunity to be close to monkeys in complete swinging treedom. There are no barriers or wires or fences they are completely free! Amazing...
A fascinating world as you hear rustling in the trees, chasing one another through the branches. Monkeys sitting by streams. Male territorial fighting, babies with mothers Nit picking. haha All around in the trees are young monkeys doing acrobatics between the branches. Walking along the path you are transported into a different world of monkey magic! A trip to the coffee shop for c blank blank f blank e and a cheese sandwich and the shop and hey presto, top day had all round! Visited the library on the way home, ickle man hired a couple of DVD's much cheaper than blockbuster and I picked up some books on Interior Design that they were selling for a £1 ....bargain!!

  • Wander the world with web cams

Why bother travelling these days? Why bother packing? Why bother going through airport security? Instead, stay at home in front of your computer – where it is warm and cozy – and travel the world through the eyes of web cams.
The advantages of this are numerous. For one thing, it is safe: no plane or car crashes, no pickpockets, no pigeons. And no traffic jams. But you can watch traffic jams. Here you can watch traffic jams at ten locations in what may well be the traffic jam capital of the world, New York City:

    London

Seeing Big Ben is one of the principle reason visitors travel to London. Here is a fine view of Big Ben:

Another leading reason visitors travel to London is watch the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. We have been unable to find a web cam of the Changing of the Guard. We did find, however, a link to the History of the Changing of the Guard:

  • And Where Were You?

    And Where Were You?
    by Valerie

    You heaven sent
I never thought I'd see this day,
I never thought I'd feel this way,
    You...a stranger to me now.
    I'm left with emptiness...
I wish I knew how it could be,
That we were once so open and free.
You were like my brother.. yet so much more
I wish I would have seen what I see now before.
    For, I did not
My friend, my lover once, is now unknown.
And what hurts the most is I now know..
What I lost.. and I'm alone.
To face a challenge life has sent,
And not a moment with you I've spent.
I hope one day I can forgive you, my friend..
I miss you....I wonder why it was you God chose to take away
    Why did you go?

  • Child's Definition of LOVE.

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." Rebecca - age 8

When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs." Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." Terri - age 4

Love is when my mummy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK." Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mummy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss" Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen," Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate," Nikka - age 6

"There are two kinds of love. Our love. God's love. But God makes both kinds of them." Jenny - age 8

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well." Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore," Cindy - age 8

"My mummy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mummy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken." Elaine -age 5

"Love is when Mummy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford." Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day." Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones." Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mummy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross." Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget," Jessica - age 8

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbour was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked him what he had said to the neighbour, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry."

  • Halloween Romance

I'm such a dreamer..if i had someone special to romance with what better time of year to spend a night cuddled up on the sofa watching scary movies with flickering candles.
What romantic things are you doing?

  • My Son's friend is missing

My Son's school friend is missing. He was in the same form right through school at Sandbach and he spoke to him before he went on holiday about his beloved LFC. His family & friends are hoping and praying he turns up safe back in Sandbach. Missing for nearly 2months now.

Steven Cook, a 20 year old university student from the UK, was on holiday with a group of friends when he went missing in Malia in the early hours of Thursday September 1st, which was the night he arrived in Crete from England. Even after extensive inquiries and a huge search of the surrounding areas, no trace of him has been found. Steven's brother, Chris recently took part in a TV programme on Greek TV called "The Light at the End of the Tunnel" which highlighted Steven's disappearance and asked the public for their help.

    About Steve

    Age: 20
    Height: 5' 9" - 5' 10"
    Eyes: Green / Brown
    Build: Medium
Hair: Dark brown. Short at the back and sides and spiked up with wax on top.

Distinguishing features: Steve has a scar at the outer corner of his right eye. He also has a scar between 1/2 - 1" long on the back of his head.

Steven's family and friends are understandably really anxious to find him. More information and pictures are here at www.findstevencook.co.uk. If you know anything at all about this, however trivial it may seem, it may just be the missing piece of information to help find Steven and bring him back home safely to his family. Please use the contact information on the website.

  • Cathedral of the consumer

Yes Saturday I went shopping to the Trafford Centre with my ickle lad..We were looking for a TV but they had zero stock wherever we went..I couldnt help but admire the dome

Well love it or loathe it you can't help but admire the architecture...To some it's a cathedral of the consumer. With its free parking, weather-free walkways, smooth marble floors and dozens of designer outlets, it's a shoppers' heaven.

To others, it's a vision of hell. They despise its fake palms, neo-classical pillars and murials

We had a lovely meal in Tiggi's check it out if you ever go ;o)

  • I'm off to the SPA

  • Never A Dull Mo

Sooo I didn't go the footie in the end, found something more exciting to do as in taking my ickle lad to see Wallace and Grommit. Anyone seen it? It was the attention to detail...contains nuts when he was naked & dressed in the cardboard box, the smug fridge and it was the car that shook like a dog that made me laff...anyway very very funny and entertainment for adults and kids alike so get yourselves to see it! ;o) Need the slimfast again though as ate a large popcorn and a hotdog....chief trougher or what

On the way home we met up with couple of footie agent friends from France & Monaco at Manchester Airport they were eating so we didn't stay long as ickle man was pouring the contents of his fruit shoot into a wine glass, sticking his fingers in the ashtray and dripping candle wax on his hand...hmm

Funny moment was when one of the footie agents clicked his fingers at the consierge and asked for sweets..The ickle consierge man returned with a blue carrier bag full to the brim with packets of sweets...all out of breath..I had a vision of him jumping on his bike and cycling to the nearest petrol station! haha it made ickle man happy though!!

Up early again this morning never a dull mo

  • It’s Never Too Late for Love

Try and read this without crying

It’s Never Too Late for Love—John Powell

Some 14 years ago, I stood watching my university student’s file into the classroom for our opening session of Religious Studies. That was the day I first saw Tommy. He was combing his hair, which hung six inches below his shoulders. My quick judgment wrote him off as strange -- very strange.

Tommy turned out to be my biggest challenge. He constantly objected to, or smirked at the possibility of an unconditionally loving God. When he turned in his final exam at the end of the course, he asked in a slightly cynical tone, "Do you think I'll ever find God?"

    "No," I said emphatically.

"Oh," he responded. "I thought that was the product you were pushing."

I let him get five steps from the door and then called out. "I don't think you'll ever find him, but I am certain he will find you." Tommy shrugged and left. I felt slightly disappointed that he had missed my clever line.

Later I heard that Tommy had graduated, and I was grateful for that. Then came a sad report: Tommy had terminal cancer. Before I could search him out, he came to me. When he walked into my office, his body was badly wasted, and his long hair had fallen out because of the chemotherapy. But, his eyes were bright and his voice, for the first time, was firm.

"Tommy! I've thought about you so often. I heard you were very sick," I blurted out.

"Oh, yes, very sick. I have cancer. It's a matter of weeks."

    "Can you talk about it?"

"Sure. What would you like to know?"

"What's it like to be only 24 and know that you're dying?"

"It could be worse," he told me, "like being 50 and thinking that drinking booze, seducing women and making money are the real 'biggies' in life." Then, he told me why he had come.

"It was something you said to me on the last day of class. I asked if you thought I would ever find God and you said no, which surprised me. Then you said, 'But, he will find you.' I thought about that a lot, even though my search for God was hardly intense at that time."

"But, when the doctors removed a lump from my body and told me that it was malignant, I got serious about locating God. And when the malignancy spread into my vital organs, I really began banging against the bronze doors of heaven. But, nothing happened. Well, one day I woke up, and instead of my desperate attempts to get some kind of message, I just quit. I decided I didn't really care about God, an afterlife, or anything like that."

"I decided to spend what time I had left doing something more important. I thought about you and something else you had said: 'The essential sadness is to go through life without loving. But, it would be almost equally sad to leave this world without ever telling those you loved that you loved them.' “

So, I began with the hardest one...my Dad."

Tommy's father had been reading the newspaper when his son approached him.

"Dad, I would like to talk with you."

    "Well, talk."

    "I mean, it's really important."

The newspaper came down three slow inches. "What is it?"

"Dad, I love you. I just wanted you to know that."

Tommy smiled at me as he recounted the moment. "The newspaper fluttered to the floor. Then, my father did two things I couldn't remember him doing before. He cried and he hugged me. And then, we talked all night, even though he had to go to work the next morning."

"It was easier with my mother and little brother," Tommy continued.

"They cried with me, and we hugged one another, and shared the thing we had been keeping secret for so many years. I was only sorry that I had waited so long. Here I was, in the shadow of death, and I was just beginning to open up to all the people I had actually been close to."

"Then one day, I turned around and God was there. He didn't come to me when I pleaded with him. Apparently he does things in his own way and at his own hour. The important thing is that you were right. He found me even after I stopped looking for him."

"Tommy," I practically gasped, "I think you are saying something much more universal than you realize. You are saying that the surest way to find God is not by making him a private possession or an instant consolation in time of need, but rather by opening to love."

"Tommy," I added, "could I ask you a favour? Would you come to my inspire course and tell my students what you just told me?"

Though we scheduled a date, he never made it. Of course, his life was not really ended by his death, only changed. He made the great step from faith into vision. He found a life far more beautiful than the eye of humanity has ever seen, or the mind ever imagined.

Before he died, we talked one last time. "I'm not going to make it to your class," he said.

    "I know, Tommy."

"Will you tell them for me? Will you . . . tell the whole world for me?"

"I will, Tommy. I'll tell them."

  • I chose Life!

Michael is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!" He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Michael was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing his style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Michael and asked him, "I don't get it. You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Michael replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, ‘You have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.’ I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.”

"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested.

"Yes, it is," Michael said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life."

I reflected on what Michael said. Soon after, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I decided to choose life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Michael was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back. I saw Michael about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied. "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?"

I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place. "The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon to be born daughter, " Michael replied. "Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live."

“Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.

Michael continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read ‘He's a dead man.’ I knew I needed to take action."

“What did you do?" I asked.

"Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Michael. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. 'Yes', I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Gravity.' Over their laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead'." Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.

Well I went to the pub at lunchtime with my colleagues! Unfortunately I was on the phone when we arrived...I'll come back to that in a min as need to ask your advice..I mouthed to Commander to get me a lager and lime. Anyway when I'd finished on the phone I walked in to find I'd got a pint....horror of horrors I don't do pints!! It's not very ladylike is it? Anyway back to the advice, this company phoned me.... they are an internet based estate agents and are asking for 10pounds a week or 500pounds a year to pass all enquiries for interior designers in my area to me. Has anyone ever heard of this? Sounds like a good idea if it works what do you reckon? But then again it might be a con or a waste of money?

On Sunday I'm going shopping for stock in Manchester with Carol & Charlotte and tonight yes tonight I'm off out for an early tea....so I'd better have a Slim-Fast yaketty yak
Anyway guys I bought my friend this. What do you think? It's a glass slipper containing liquer.... Blood orange with Vodka..I loved the bottle really and I thought she could mix the liquer with champagne and lots of ice! mwah!

  • Anyone Lost a mug? Lol

  • Shopping Fix

Just been with the girls for a shopping fix! We wanted to see how much damage we could do in an hour.......ooo happy days! Commander bought a pair of lace up boots and a skirt with very nice sparkley band round, Carol nothing and I tried the whole shop on and bought a jacket! I decided that 'cos I'd already bought lots in Stratford at the weekend then maybe I should spare my wardrobes the strain! Plus when you're slimming not the best time to buy new robes is it? By the way the reason I'm slimming is I over indulged on a weekend away with my parents on cooked breakfasts and monkfish and turkish delight icecream in brandysnap basket and and wild mushrooms and and salmon and and prawns and pine nuts and and foie gras and soooo many wonderful culinery delights...I'm just bursting
Work can be stimulating, exciting, challenging and satisfying...But let's be honest there's not much that beats a good shopping fix with the girls ;o)

  • Animals Are Just Peeps In Disguise...Cute Time

Well today I have eaten a banana, two cups of c blank blank f blank e and an absolutely disgusting Slim Fast drink..Apparently if you leave them in your cup they solidify which is why you don't feel hungry 'cos that's what happens in your stomach! Horrible as they are I actually felt slimmer this morning! Yay for slim fasts!! The beauty of these horrible drinks (that by the way taste like condensed milk with extra sugar) is that you can eat fairly normally in the evenings if you behave during the day...For example last night I went to see my friend Charlotte and troughed on Pizza and crisps..which is a pretty cool way to trim if you ask me haha
