I was reading an article the other day about the American poet William Carlos Williams. Evidently, he made a habit of carrying a small notepad around with him at all times. He used to write down things under the heading: "Things I noticed today that I've missed until today." That got me wondering about how many things we all miss as we go about our days. If you're like me, you know it's easy to get caught up in a routine you've developed. And once you're in your routine, it's almost like being on automatic pilot for the rest of the day.
How often does it happen that you look back on your day and it just seems to be a blur? Doing the usual things in the usual way. Or maybe you were caught up in a flurry of activity and time passed before you knew it. It's a bit like that old saying about not seeing what's right in front of you. I know that happens a lot to me. The idea of stopping to notice what is in front of you and around you helps bring you back into the present moment and gives you a sense of truly being alive.

it's a sense of living in the moment that can give a boost to our days

Great pictures. Love the lightning one!
Couldnt agree with you more on the days that seem like a blur. Routine gets boring and monotonous after a while, ive been trying to mix things up a bit and alter my attitude to almost everything so far this year. So far so good :-)
Its sometimes very easy to not see whats staring you in the face! Very annoying too.-

And it seems to have done just that.
Incidentally, you know how ive been working in macc for just under 2 and a half years now, well i was walking around town yesterday lunch (for prolly the 50 millionth time) and i saw a pizza restaraunt that id never seen before even though ive walked past it every single time. Funny you were only saying how you dont see things that are staring you in the face.
Oh and by the way, why do you have a towel stuck around your head on the newly added photos? and are you looking up in the air for devine intervention???-

I think it's a brilliant idea jess, simply because you so often forget the little things you do from day to day, think I might take this idea up myself

A very astute observation Jessica and one which I myself considered noted a few months.
Since then I have carried a notebook everywhere and have been mistaken for a Policeman, a Taxman, a Benefits Fraud Inspector and a Private Detective.
Unfortunately, I was too busy running to write anything down. So it`s all a bit of a blur really (and now I could be mistaken for Damon Albarn ffs!!).-

Elementary my dear...
What son?
Which reminds me of Holmes & Watson on a camping trip.
Holmes says, "I see that the north star is moving across the southern hemisphere. I see that the milky way is slowly moving westwards. I see that the moon is only half full tonight".
Watson says, "And do you deduce from that the name of the murderer Holmes?"
Holmes says, " No, my dear Watson, I deduce from that, that some fecker has nicked our tent!!!"
The old ones are still the best lol.-

great observation- life sometimes gets in the way of living life.

tomorrow I'll take more notice of things and hopefully every day after!
thank you
its so true. And thats why I too carry a little notebook (which was present from the fabulous flickflack) with me wherever I go
Its amazing what you see if you just look, and what you remember if you just write a few words.
