LOCAL VAN SPECIALIST SUPPORTS LDV PROFITS SUCCESS

by JessicaSmith @ Friday, Aug. 03, 2007 - 11:32:42

This is one of our drivers Matt bless and the Press Release
LOCAL VAN SPECIALIST SUPPORTS LDV PROFITS SUCCESS

Imperial Commercials joined in the celebrations recently, as LDV marked its return to profitability, less than one year after being purchased by Russian firm GAZ.

The Stoke-on-Trent-based LDV dealership celebrated the Birmingham van maker's success as it accompanied a procession of 20 branded MAXUS vans into Birmingham city centre for a commemorative ceremony.

LDV's Chief Executive, Steve Young, led the ceremony, which started at the firm's Washwood Heath factory where Imperial Commercials joined other LDV dealers from across the country as they each drove a brand new, award winning, MAXUS to the city centre venue.

"Our celebrations round off an immensely successful 12 months," said Guy Jones, LDV's retail sales director. "GAZ has proved a fantastic new owner for the business, backing us financially with a £48 million refinancing package last year, and the resources to invest in new products and enter new markets."

"As an industrial owner, not just a financial one, they bring great credibility to our growth plans when we speak with customers, dealers and suppliers."

The investment has seen a new £6 million production line installed and has led to new product launches for LDV including a MAXUS chassis cab range, a 12 & 17-seat MAXUS minibus, a bi-purpose range and two new engines. Still to come this year from the Special Vehicle Operations team will be a new MAXUS ambulance, a refrigerated model and a fire support vehicle.

"The upcoming vehicles will provide a greater range of flexibility for dealerships in order to meet customers' needs." added Guy

Matthew Durose, Imperial Commercials sales driver was very pleased to be part of the event and found the morning to be most enjoyable. "In the past 12 months we have seen a significant upturn in the LDV business and with the new models recently introduced, it reinforces our confidence in the van maker going forward."

Imperial Commercials is located on Leek New Road, Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent, Tel: 01782 276600. www.imperialcommercials.co.uk

Blow Out

by JessicaSmith @ Wednesday, Aug. 01, 2007 - 10:55:26

Scott AshleyAmy MacDonaldMy lil carLast night on the way back from Amy MacDonald and Scott Ashley concert my tyre blew out on the fast lane of the M6. I managed to control the swerve and get over to the hard shoulder. I got straight onto the AA. The guy from the AA call centre was very slow and not very helpful.Just what you need lol he even told me that my car registration didnt match the make of my car! I think he had a swollen typing finger. lol He said someone would be out to me before 12.30!! I phoned at 11.20. In the meantime traffic officers stopped and asked if I was ok. Told me I should get out of the car via the passenger seat and stand on the other side of the barrier. This was quite a struggle as I have bucket seats and to try and get out of them my side is difficult never mind the passenger side. They told me as they drove off that I needed to keep watching the traffic and if a car was coming towards me run? lol good advice!! They took my mobile number and said they would phone me at 12.30 if I hadn't been collected. It was pitch black other than the light of the moon and really freezing cold!! I was greatly in need of a wee so I am afraid I had to go..in the undergrowth...down a ditch...in the dark....unfortunately for me i sat on a bed of nettles and I now have about 10 stings on my bottom! lol By the time the AA arrived it was nearly 12.30 and they had sent a lady so all she could do was recover the vehicle and take me to Sandbach Services. At Sandbach Services after a while of sitting in the vehicle with her, she was called to another job. As she left she told me another AA man would be out before he went home but he might not take the job....He obviously didnt!! lol At 1.25 The Mansfield Group turned up...my boot was full of wrapping paper and clothes lol..even walking boots...lol...but we managed to get the spare out and change the wheel. The downside is my wheel wouldnt go back in the boot of my lil TT so the very nice man from the Mansfield Group took it with him!! I have no idea how I am going to collect it...or if I will even see it again!!
